4 Weeks to a More Organized Home Day 13

I’m back!

After an AMAZING two week vacation home to visit my family in Nashville, I landed safely at Heathrow yesterday morning and breathed a deep sigh of relief – there’s nothing like coming home to my gorgeous husband. I slept for 16 hours yesterday as I stayed up watching free movies on the plane (Lego Movie was awesome, btw).

Today’s challenge:

1. Get dressed in something that makes you feel great

Blue J Crew dress with an Ann Taylor cardigan & necklace (fare thee well, Nashville heat)

2. Unpack

Is this part of the actual challenge? No, but it needs to get done. I brought home a whopping 130 pounds of American goodies that need to go somewhere. That’s almost all the challenge I can handle today. Almost.

Seriously y’all, these were heavy

3. Clean the top of your kitchen cupboards (if there is space between them and the ceiling) and the top of your refrigerator. If you have clutter on the top of your refrigerator, go through it and see if you can get rid of it or find a new home for it. Wipe down the outside of your kitchen cupboard doors.

This, like cleaning the oven, is one of those tasks that I will normally happily put off. So, like cleaning the oven, I outsourced the vacuuming of the cobwebs to Terry while I wiped down the kitchen cupboards.

Before – not too bad, right?
How very, very wrong – yuck!
Rub a dub dub – ready to go back up!
After – much better!
‘Smile, Terry!’ ‘There’s nothing to smile about up here’

4. Find 5 items to get rid of today. Throw them out, stick them in a donate or garage sale box, give them to a friend who can use them, or list them on Craigslist or eBay.

Terry and I walked an entire box of donated items into town today to Oxfam – 65 items cleared out so far! – but there is definately more things that can go.

1. Coffee jar that doesn’t fit an entire bag of coffee – donate 2 & 3. Glass jars – donate 4. Ramekins – donate 5. Ice cream scoop – we had two – donate
